target relevance
NeuN, also known as Fox-3 or RBFOX3, is a well-established neuronal marker widely used in neuroscience research. It is a nuclear protein that is selectively expressed in post-mitotic neurons, making it an essential tool for identifying and characterizing neuronal populations in various tissues and experimental models. NeuN immunohistochemistry, facilitated by specific antibodies targeting NeuN, allows researchers to visualize and quantify neuronal cell bodies, providing valuable insights into neuronal distribution, density, and morphology. This marker is particularly valuable for studying neurodevelopment, neurodegenerative diseases, and neuronal plasticity in response to different experimental conditions or treatments. Moreover, NeuN antibodies have proven instrumental in identifying and differentiating neurons from other cell types, such as glial cells, in complex neural tissues.

Data

ICC/IF-image-chicken-anti-NeuN-polyclonal-antibody-1867
Immunofluorescent analysis of rat hippocampus section stained with chicken pAb to FOX3/NeuN, 1867, dilution 1:5,000 in red, and costained with rabbit pAb to IBA1 dilution 1:2,000, in green. Following transcardial perfusion with 4% paraformaldehyde, rat brain was post fixed for 24 hours, cut to 35µM, and free-floating sections were stained with the above antibodies. The FOX3/NeuN antibody stains the nuclei and distal perikarya of most neurons, while the IBA1 antibody specifically labels microglial cells.

Chromogenic Immunostaining of a formalin fixed paraffin embedded rat cerebellum section with chicken pAb to FOX3/NeuN, 1867, dilution 1:10,000, detected in DAB (brown) following the 8718C method. Hematoxylin (blue) was used as the counterstain. FOX3/NeuN antibody stains the nuclei and distal perikaryal of most neurons. Mouse select image for larger view.
WB-image-chicken-anti-NeuN-polyclonal-antibody-1867
Western blot analysis of mouse brain nuclear fraction lysate using chicken pAb to FOX3/NeuN, 1867, dilution 1:1,000 in green. Lane 1 represents protein standard in red. Two bands at 46 and 50kDa mark correspond to the two isoforms of the FOX3/NeuN protein.
