Infectious Markers
Infectious Markers: IHC is useful for detecting infectious agents within tissue samples, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Markers for organisms like cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and Helicobacter pylori are frequently used to confirm infections, especially in cases where routine histology may not provide a definitive diagnosis.
IHC with antibody [6392] : Human lung infected with treponema organisms stained with anti-treponema pallidum using peroxidase-conjugate and DAB chromogen. Note the clusters of slender organisms.
IHC with antibody [6166] : Human Hodgkin's lymphoma stained with anti-EBV-LMP antibody using peroxidase-conjugate and DAB chromogen. Note intense cytoplasmic staining of Reed-Sternberg cells.
IHC with antibody [6206] : Human stomach stained with anti-H. pylori antibody using peroxidase-conjugate and DAB chromogen. Note intense staining of H. Pylori organisms on the surface of gastric epithelial cells.
