background | Angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2; also ANGPT2) is a secreted glycoprotein that plays a complex role in angiogenesis and inflammation. Mature Ang-2 is 478 amino acids in length.Ang2 is widely expressed during development, but it is restricted postnatally to highly angiogenic tissues such as the placenta, ovaries, and uterus. It is particularly abundant in vascular endothelial cells (EC) where it is stored in intracellular Weibel Palade bodies.. |
molecular weight | The protein has a predicted MW of 26.29 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 30-35 kDa based on Tris-Bis PAGE result. |
available size | 100 µg, 500 µg |
endotoxin | Less than 1EU per μg by the LAL method. |

Gene names Angpt2,Angpt2 Agpt2 |
Mass 10090Da |
Function Binds to TEK/TIE2, competing for the ANGPT1 binding site, and modulating ANGPT1 signaling (By similarity). Can induce tyrosine phosphorylation of TEK/TIE2 in the absence of ANGPT1 (By similarity). In the absence of angiogenic inducers, such as VEGF, ANGPT2-mediated loosening of cell-matrix contacts may induce endothelial cell apoptosis with consequent vascular regression (By similarity). In concert with VEGF, it may facilitate endothelial cell migration and proliferation, thus serving as a permissive angiogenic signal (By similarity). Involved in the regulation of lymphangiogenesis (PubMed:28179430, PubMed:32908006). |
