background | Nectin-2 is an adhesion molecule that has been reported to play a role in tumor growth, metastasis and tumor angiogenesis. Nectin-2 expression in ovarian cancer may support tumor cell adhesion, leading to growth and lymph node metastasis. Effect of VEGF on Nectin-2 expression as well as permeability was investigated in HUVEC. |
molecular weight | The protein has a predicted MW of 35.7 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 45-50 kDa based on Tris-Bis PAGE result. |
available size | 100 µg, 500 µg |
endotoxin | Less than 1EU per μg by the LAL method. |

Function Modulator of T-cell signaling. Can be either a costimulator of T-cell function, or a coinhibitor, depending on the receptor it binds to. Upon binding to CD226, stimulates T-cell proliferation and cytokine production, including that of IL2, IL5, IL10, IL13, and IFNG. Upon interaction with PVRIG, inhibits T-cell proliferation. These interactions are competitive. Probable cell adhesion protein. |
Subellular location Cell membrane ; Single-pass type I membrane protein . |
Tissues Brain, spinal cord, spleen, kidney, heart and liver. |
Structure Can form trans-heterodimers with NECTIN3 (PubMed:10744716, PubMed:22902367). Interacts with CD226 or with PVRIG; these interactions are competitive and have a differential functional outcome on T-cell activation, either positive or negative, respectively. Binds with low affinity to TIGIT (By similarity). |
