background

Carboxypeptidase M (CPM) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored enzyme that plays an important role in the kallikrein-kinin system (KKS). CPM catalytic domain hydrolyzes Arg from C-terminal peptides (i.e., bradykinin and kallidin), generating des-Arg-kinins, the agonists of B1 receptor (B1R).

molecular weight

The protein has a predicted MW of 47.48 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 50-65 kDa based on Tris-Bis PAGE result.

available size

100 µg, 500 µg

endotoxin

Less than 1EU per μg by the LAL method.

target relevance
Carboxypeptidase M (CPM) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored enzyme that plays an important role in the kallikrein-kinin system (KKS). CPM catalytic domain hydrolyzes Arg from C-terminal peptides (i.e., bradykinin and kallidin), generating des-Arg-kinins, the agonists of B1 receptor (B1R).
Protein names
Carboxypeptidase M (CPM) (EC 3.4.17.12)
Gene names
CPM,CPM
Protein family
Peptidase M14 family
Mass
9606Da
Function
Specifically removes C-terminal basic residues (Arg or Lys) from peptides and proteins. It is believed to play important roles in the control of peptide hormone and growth factor activity at the cell surface, and in the membrane-localized degradation of extracellular proteins.
