Additional information

Mikrogen recomLine HEV IgG/IgM tests are serological, qualitative in vitro line immunoassays based on recombinantly produced HEV antigens. The selection of homologous proteins from two different genotypes (genotype 1 and genotype 3) allows high sensitivity even in non-endemic areas with a high proportion of autochthonous hepatitis E cases.

Advantages
  • Homologous antigens of two genotypes: Genotype 1 and Genotype 3.
  • Highly reliable detection of all four human pathogenic genotypes occurring worldwide.
  • Can be used as both a confirmatory and screening test.
  • Separate detection of IgG and IgM antibodies.
  • Easy and clear interpretation due to easy-to-read banding.
  • Partial and full automation, software-based evaluation (recomScan), and integration with laboratory information systems possible.
  • Highest sensitivity and specificity through the use of recombinant antigens:
Bands
Antigen Source Origin
O2N N-terminal part of the ORF* 2 protein (HEV capsid protein) Genotype 1, Genotype 3
O2M Middle part of the ORF* 2 protein (HEV capsid protein) Genotype 1
O2C C-terminal part of ORF* 2 protein (HEV capsid protein) Genotype 1, Genotype 3
O3 HEV ORF* 3 protein Genotype 1, Genotype 3

Hepatitis E Virus
Gene names
HepE
Subcellular location
In the detection of Hepatitis E Virus (HEV), antibodies play a crucial role, particularly through assays like ELISA, which identify HEV-specific IgM and IgG antibodies in the blood. IgM antibodies indicate an acute or recent HEV infection, while IgG antibodies suggest past infection or immunity. These serological tests are essential for diagnosing HEV, especially in regions where the virus is endemic, and for monitoring outbreaks.
