background | PLXNA1 (Plexin A1) is a member of plexin family that are the receptors of semaphorins. It is involved in cell migration and neuronal repulsion by affecting cytoskeletal remodeling. PLXNA1 can bind class 6 semaphorins and bind the class 3 semaphorins indirectly via Neuropilin-1 and -2. |
molecular weight | The protein has a predicted MW of 135 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 140-155 kDa based on Tris-Bis PAGE result. |
available size | 100 µg, 500 µg |
endotoxin | Less than 1EU per μg by the LAL method. |

Gene names PLXNA1,PLXNA1 NOV PLXN1 |
Protein family Plexin family |
Mass 9606Da |
Function Coreceptor for SEMA3A, SEMA3C, SEMA3F and SEMA6D. Necessary for signaling by class 3 semaphorins and subsequent remodeling of the cytoskeleton. Plays a role in axon guidance, invasive growth and cell migration. Class 3 semaphorins bind to a complex composed of a neuropilin and a plexin. The plexin modulates the affinity of the complex for specific semaphorins, and its cytoplasmic domain is required for the activation of down-stream signaling events in the cytoplasm (By similarity). |
Subellular location Cell membrane ; Single-pass type I membrane protein . |
Tissues Detected in fetal brain, lung, liver and kidney. |
Structure Interacts directly with NRP1 and NRP2. Interacts with FARP2, RND1 and KDR/VEGFR2. Binding of SEMA3A leads to dissociation of FARP2 (By similarity). |
