background

Human IL-2 receptor alpha (IL-2 R alpha), also known as Tac antigen and as CD25, was initially identified as a 55 kDa membrane glycoprotein that is capable of binding IL‑2.eceptor for interleukin-2. The receptor is involved in the regulation of immune tolerance by controlling regulatory T cells (TREGs) activity. TREGs suppress the activation and expansion of autoreactive T-cells.

molecular weight

The protein has a predicted MW of 24.6 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 40-50 kDa based on Tris-Bis PAGE result.

available size

100 µg, 500 µg

endotoxin

Less than 1EU per μg by the LAL method.

target relevance
Human IL-2 receptor alpha (IL-2 R alpha), also known as Tac antigen and as CD25, was initially identified as a 55 kDa membrane glycoprotein that is capable of binding IL-2.eceptor for interleukin-2. Protein names
Interleukin-2 receptor subunit alpha (IL-2 receptor subunit alpha) (IL-2-RA) (IL-2R subunit alpha) (IL2-RA) (TAC antigen) (p55) (CD antigen CD25)
Gene names
IL2RA,IL2RA
Mass
9606Da
Function
Receptor for interleukin-2. The receptor is involved in the regulation of immune tolerance by controlling regulatory T cells (TREGs) activity. TREGs suppress the activation and expansion of autoreactive T-cells.
Subellular location
Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Structure
Non-covalent dimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. IL2R exists in 3 different forms: a high affinity dimer, an intermediate affinity monomer (beta subunit), and a low affinity monomer (alpha subunit). The high and intermediate affinity forms also associate with a gamma subunit.
